Main Street Blytheville has come a long way in the last two years, and
that’s not only because of the hard work of the community as a whole,
it is also, in large part, due to Main Street’s newest Executive
Director, Anita Parrett. Downtown Blytheville has seen a great deal of
growth, renovation and prosperity in a relatively short amount of time
under her leadership. |

Even
though Dr. Tommy Wagner has only been operating his clinic in Manila
for three years, he says he has learned a lot in that time about things
he wasn’t taught in school. He has managed to grow his clinic from the

Every November, we commit several pages of this publication to focusing
on the state of and predictions for retail in Northeast Arkansas. This
year’s issue will not disappoint; although the information contained on
them may be distinctively different than in years past. Forecasts are
all over the board; from a down national season to the optimistic look
of our local retailers. Buyers are starting early, so the news of a
blockbuster “Black Friday” may be premature. It’s obviously going to
be a cautious holiday shopping season. |

The latest national projections are predicting that we will have a
better holiday shopping season than last year. Regionally, chambers of
commerce and Main Street programs are pushing their communities to get
out and shop locally in an effort to boost their own local economies.
Most believe that locally, sales will be much better than last year;
contributing to the national trend. |
